Location: New York City, New York

Salary: $185K - $200K

As a private, independent, employee-owned investment manager, Neuberger Berman is structurally aligned with the long-term interests of our clients. We have no external parent or public shareholders to serve, nor other lines of business to distract us from our core mission. And with our employees and their families invested alongside our clients—plus 100% of employee deferred cash compensation directly linked to team and firm strategies—we are truly in this together. Details below.

Marquee Brands is a fast growing and dynamic consumer brand-focused private equity business that is currently seeking a Vice President with a passion for investing as well as a deep understanding of consumer brands to join its investment team. Marquee Brands sits within Neuberger Berman, a 75-year-old private investment firm with $443 billion of assets under management and over 2,799 employees in 39 cities worldwide as of June 2023. Neuberger Berman is one of the largest private market investors with over $120bn in client assets.

Marquee Brands is dedicated to acquiring high-quality consumer brands with a recognized heritage and proven resonance with consumers. Marquee seeks to create a unique and highly diversified portfolio of consumer brands for investors. Marquee’s current portfolio consists of 16 brands spanning home & culinary, fashion and active, outdoor & streetwear and includes brands such as Martha Stewart, Sur La Table, BCBG Max Azria, Ben Sherman and Dakine. Post acquisition, our investment team is highly involved in the execution of our value creation initiatives, as capital structure management and other business development / capital markets activities.

The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for consumer brands and be eager to hone their investment analysis, transaction execution and post-transaction operating capabilities. The ability to think analytically is a must but the ability to think creatively is also highly valued and no voice or idea is too small to be heard. This will be a very dynamic role, where the Vice President may be modeling investment projection scenarios one day and negotiating deal terms with a prospective licensee the next. The Vice President should expect to gain a substantial amount of both investment and operations experience. Also, the investment team is small and tight-knit and Vice Presidents will receive significant direct interaction with senior investment team leaders, portfolio company management as well as direct exposure to key third-party stakeholders. Finally, the Neuberger Berman Private Equity platform is a highly entrepreneurial environment where employees are often empowered to think outside the box and develop new investment strategies and the Vice President is expected to play a meaningful role in that as well.
