Brookfield’s publicly traded Reinsurance business, Brookfield Reinsurance Partners Ltd., is a newly formed division of Brookfield focused on providing capital-based solutions to insurance companies and their stakeholders. Brookfield Reinsurance is positioned to act as a strong, long-term partner to the insurance sector, with a primary focus on the life, annuity and pension market in North America and Europe. The business provides annuity-based reinsurance products to insurance and reinsurance companies and also acts as a direct issuer of pension risk transfer products for pension plan sponsors. In doing so, the business seeks to match long-duration liabilities with a portfolio of high-quality investments in order to generate attractive, risk-adjusted returns.

Job Description

Brookfield is seeking an asset management resource focused on the Corporate Credit and Infrastructure Credit portfolios. This position will get exposure to various asset classes and will be involved throughout the investment lifecycle from inception to exit. The role will involve preparation of portfolio review materials, management of portfolio trackers, ownership of the valuation process, assistance with deal execution, coordination with the operations team, aspects of CLO management and various other critical tasks.

Brookfield Insurance Solutions (BN Re) is the insurance solutions arm of Brookfield Asset Management, specializing in raising insurance capital through M&A, Reinsurance and managed accounts, and investing the managed capital. The Corporate Credit and Infrastructure teams are sector teams within the investment office. Current AUM is ~$50bn (~$100bn pro forma for pending acquisitions) with large and publicly stated aspirations for growth.

The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial attitude. The candidate will be expected to work on several tasks simultaneously and is expected to know how to manage their workload. Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills are important for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of portfolio reviews
  • Management of portfolio trackers
  • Review, documentation and presentation of investment valuations
  • Strategic financial reporting, including spreading of historical financials and monthly/quarterly updating of relevant KPIs
  • CLO management and coordination of ratings processes
  • Asset management, including execution of transaction closings and coordination with the operations team – ensuring timely fundings, receipt of repayments, execution of legal docs, etc.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master in Finance or Accounting, CPA, MBA and/or working towards CFA is a plus
  • 4+ years relevant work experience – investment banking, advisory, consulting, buy side credit investing, FP&A or comparable experience
  • Interest in asset management
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate internally (i.e., sector deal teams, operations teams and management) and externally (i.e., banks, loan agents, investment partners, etc.)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced-environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented approach

Salary Range: $150,000 – $250,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
