First Eagle Alternative Credit (FEAC) is a leading manager of direct lending and tradable credit investment products, with approximately $21 billion of assets under management (as of June 30, 2023). FEAC advises a full range of public and private investment vehicles, including a business development company, interval fund, collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), separately managed accounts and comingled funds. FEAC is the alternative capital platform of First Eagle Investments, an independent, privately owned investment management firm headquartered in New York City with $110 billion of assets under management (as of June 30, 2023).

Who we are looking for:

First Eagle is seeking a Senior Trader to join the High Yield Muni Credit team. This role can be located in New York or Chicago.


What you will do:

  • Interface with the Street to identify the best relative value opportunities for purchase or sale
  • Responsible for best execution on behalf of high yield products and clients
  • Negotiate for bond allocations on new issues and secondary market situations
  • Work closely with the Senior PM and Research Analyst(s) on credit and security selection, sector overweights and underweights, portfolio construction, management of fund flows, risk management and implementation of hedging strategies
  • Articulate portfolio strategies to due diligence committees, financial advisors, and investors
  • Back-up Senior PM in portfolio management
  • May quickly lead to portfolio management responsibilities depending on experience, performance, and business success

The qualities you should have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA a plus
  • 10+ years of portfolio management and trading experience in the asset management industry
  • Deep knowledge of high yield muni credit and alternative investment strategies preferred
  • Intellectual curiosity and passion for financial markets
  • Excellent analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills are critical
  • Collaborative; client-first mindset
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage interpersonal relationships vertically and horizontally across multiple channels and workflows
  • Team player and proactive personality with a positive attitude


Base Salary range: $225,000 to $275,000. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus. Compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to – the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
