As a Sr Quantitative Strategist you will play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by enhancing our modeling capabilities for all classes, specifically around complex asset classes like structured products. You will provide subject matter expertise for asset modeling, security analytics, cash flow projections, and derivative valuation functions in the asset modeling role.  These are core to Pacific Life’s asset-liability, economic, and regulatory capital management.  Asset types in scope for this role include bonds, structured products, mortgage loans, real estate, derivatives, and private equity.


Your experience should include a quantitative background, coding, and an understanding of statistics, economics, derivatives, and fixed-income analytics.  You should be able to work independently and clearly explain and justify your analysis to peers and colleagues, including fellow modelers/analysts, investment professionals, and actuarial teams.  Your innovation will be encouraged as well as your courage to challenge existing processes.


How you will make an impact:

  • Enhance Pacific Life’s asset modeling capabilities, specifically around complex assets like structured products.
  • Proactively provide insights into asset models and assumptions.  Work with investment professionals to build and review models of the asset portfolio.
  • Assist in the development and coaching of junior team members.
  • Collaborate with peers and colleagues across the investment and risk functions.


The experience you will bring:

  • 10+ years with a graduate degree in a quantitative area such as Finance, Economics, Math, Computer Science, or a related field.  PhD, MFE, and/or CFA designation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in asset modeling and derivative valuations.
  • Demonstrated experience coding in languages such as MATLAB, SAS, R, Python, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with analytical systems such as Bloomberg, Intex, RiskSpan, FactSet, Aladdin, CoStar, Trepp, Moody’s, S&P, etc.

Base Pay Range:


The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.


$189,180.00 – $231,220.00
