10 East is a private-markets investment firm that sources and underwrites differentiated fund commitments, co-investments and special situations across private equity, private credit and real estate in North America and Europe. Details below.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The successful candidate will be a key partner in deploying the flagship fund and helping lead the broader investment platform. The role spans sourcing, underwriting, presenting recommendations to the Investment Committee, execution, portfolio construction and monitoring across fund commitments, co-investments, direct investments and special situations.
This is an investment role first. The successful candidate will also communicate investment views, portfolio strategy and performance directly to sophisticated clients and LPs in partnership with the firm’s capital formation team. The ideal candidate combines institutional allocator judgment with deep manager-selection experience and hands-on co-investment or direct underwriting. The role is suited to someone who wants genuine ownership in a lean, high-accountability environment. Title and scope will be calibrated to the successful candidate’s experience.
WHY THIS ROLE
Broad mandate. Invest across fund commitments, co-investments, direct investments and special situations rather than within a narrow product or asset-class silo.
Real ownership. Work directly with the CIO, Founder and Investment Committee, with meaningful influence over portfolio construction, process and team development.
Established platform. Build on more than 400 completed investments while helping scale the firm’s flagship discretionary fund.
Alignment. Join a firm built around meaningful principal capital alongside clients and long-term, performance-based economics.
INVESTMENT LEADERSHIP
• Source and evaluate primary fund commitments, co-investments, direct investments and special situations across private equity, private credit and real estate.
• Lead underwriting from initial screening through Investment Committee approval and execution, including financial modeling, downside and scenario analysis, reference work and commercial, operational, legal and structural diligence.
• Produce concise, decision-useful investment memoranda and present clear recommendations to the Investment Committee.
• Partner with the CIO on portfolio construction, deployment pacing, concentration, liquidity and ongoing monitoring across the flagship fund and deal-by-deal portfolios.
PLATFORM LEADERSHIP
• Develop long-term relationships with exceptional managers, sponsors, executives, intermediaries and other investors that expand 10 East’s differentiated opportunity set.
• Communicate strategy, investment recommendations, portfolio developments and performance directly to clients and LPs, and support investment-related diligence in partnership with the capital formation team.
• Mentor junior investment professionals and raise the standard for analytical rigor, writing, judgment and accountability.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a senior investor who is intellectually rigorous, commercially minded and comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment. The strongest candidates will be equally credible in an Investment Committee discussion, a manager reference call and a substantive conversation with a sophisticated LP.
• A demonstrated track record of sound private-markets investment judgment, generally developed over 10+ years at an endowment, pension, foundation, family office, fund of funds, OCIO, GP or other rigorous institutional investment platform.
• Deep manager-selection experience, together with meaningful co-investment or direct underwriting experience and a demonstrated ability to lead complex diligence and form independent investment views.
• Deep expertise in at least one of private equity, private credit or real estate, together with strong judgment across multiple private-market strategies.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, exceptional investment writing and the ability to present clearly and credibly to an Investment Committee.
• Strong relationships across managers, sponsors, allocators and industry participants, together with a demonstrated ability to build differentiated access.
• Intellectual honesty, sound judgment, low ego and a hands-on approach, with comfort operating autonomously and taking end-to-end ownership in a small team.
• A demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior investors.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Investment judgment. Deliver clear, independent and downside-aware recommendations that earn the trust of the CIO and Investment Committee.
Deployment discipline. Help deploy the flagship fund thoughtfully across pacing, concentration, liquidity and portfolio balance.
Differentiated access. Expand manager and sponsor relationships with the goal of generating compelling, hard-to-source opportunities.
Platform impact. Strengthen LP communication, portfolio monitoring and the capabilities of the junior investment team.
LOCATION
This is an in-office position based at 10 East’s Midtown Manhattan office.
