Job Summary:

NEPC is seeking an experienced investment professional with in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry and a strong track record of building client relationships.   This individual will lead our insurance practice and work closely with other investment consultants in our Corporate Practice Group to build and enhance our brand in the insurance space.  The role requires the ability to network and develop relationships that will strengthen our insurance pipeline.  This individual will work closely with our clients and prospects to ensure that NEPC is delivering customized investment results in line with clients’ unique needs.  This individual must have strong presentation, verbal communication and writing skills and a solid technical background specifically building insurance portfolios in the property and casualty, health, and life areas.    Experience servicing institutional investment relationships or working within an insurance company as an investment expert required.  Minimum 10+ years of investment experience required.  An advanced degree and/or the CFA® designation are strongly preferred.  In depth knowledge of asset allocation required.  Ability to handle multiple, unique client relationships (alone or on a team basis) is an inherent job requirement.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to manage and direct a small team of investment consultants/analysts.
  2. Ability to manage and service multiple complex client relationships.
  3. Provide consulting advice on investment fund design, structure, and governance specifically for insurance assets.
  4. Meet client needs and objectives and be responsive and accessible to clients, consistent with NEPC’s client centric philosophy.
  5. Drive and participate in marketing and new business development opportunities as needed.
  6. Lead and direct the Insurance Solutions Group.
  7. Back up other Sr. Consultants/Partners on complex accounts as needed.
  8. Guide/train consultants, analysts and other associates as needed.
  9. Participate in appropriate insurance industry related conferences and networking events becoming a known NEPC entity in the space.
  10. Maintain current knowledge of insurance related investment trends and challenges, working closely with our Research team and the money manager community, and communicate these effectively with clients.
  11. Partner with NEPC’s team of Research professionals to stay current on investment market trends.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Drive and direct all activities associated with NEPC’s insurance consulting practice
  2. Act as a lead or secondary consultant on NEPC team designated to work with each client.
  3. Provide consulting advice to clients on trends in the capital markets and NEPC’s recommended actions.
  4. Consult with insurance clients on appropriate asset allocations and fund structures.
  5. Develop/review investment policy statements and update appropriately.
  6. Oversee/conduct manager searches for traditional and alternative assets.
  7. Prepare and/or review quarterly reports for client investment performance.
  8. Educate clients as to their investments and to general topics of interest in the investment industry especially as it relates to the specific needs of their institution.
