Your new role

Because of our significant growth we are expanding our investment capabilities in New York, focusing on Real Assets (Infrastructure and Property), Private Credit and Private Equity.

The Senior Investment Director (equivalent to Managing Director) takes a leading role in the implementation of AustralianSuper’s Private Credit strategy in North America focused primarily on Real Estate Debt by taking responsibility for sourcing and transacting new investment opportunities and ongoing loan investment management.

The role encompasses:

  • Sourcing and originating new private credit investment opportunities that meet the Private Credit strategy and managing execution of each new transaction
  • Ensuring asset management oversight for portfolio loan investments
  • Identifying, recruiting, and developing staff from the Analyst to the Investment Director levels
  • Assisting in the effective execution of the Private Credit strategy
  • Providing support across broader portfolio strategies
  • People management experience

The Private Credit global portfolio is US$5 billion and comprised primarily of asset-backed loans (predominately across North America, UK and Europe). Our specialist global team has deep real asset lending experience and is focused on opportunities in real estate and infrastructure sectors, as well as a newer US middle market strategy focused on lending to private equity sponsored corporates.

We are able to invest in large scale and/or complex opportunities across the full range of credit instruments, including subordinated or mezzanine positions and construction. We have the flexibility to offer tailored capital solutions that are not subject to typical mandate constraints.

 

What you’ll need 

Culture is key at AustralianSuper and we are looking for someone who is a team player that enjoys working in a high performing collaborative team.

  • Significant experience in credit assessment in a banking, finance, or a credit funds management role
  • Significant experience within real estate lending
  • Strong recognised market presence and well-established networks for loan origination
  • Proven ability to lead loan transaction execution and loan investment management functions within the North American market
  • Experience in identifying key investment issues with the ability to individually evaluate and effectively communicate them within the team and to approval committees
  • Excellent and succinct presentation skills, especially within internal investment approval forums
  • Strong people management skills

 

Pay transparency notice

The base salary range for this position is $500,000 to $560,000 plus discretionary bonus(this is based on USD, full-time hours, located in New York City).The base pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience and refers to the amount AustralianSuper is willing to pay at the time of posting.
