The Senior Investment Analyst reports to the Director of Investments and is an integral member of TNC’s Office of Investments. The Senior Investment Analyst supports the management of TNC’s investment assets by conducting investment due diligence of the Long-Term Portfolio (LTP). The Senior Investment Analyst will be a generalist working with the Office of Investments to manage these assets. The Office of Investments’ mission is to support the funding of TNC’s global conservation priorities by increasing the organization’s purchasing power through prudent and sustainable investment management. The Office of Investments, under the leadership of TNC’s Chief Investment Officer, works on all aspects of the management and monitoring of the endowment and other long-term pools of capital in excess of $4B. The Nature Conservancy’s investment assets support the organization’s global operations and most pressing conservation projects.

The Senior Investment Analyst will work with other members of the investment team to assist in the sourcing, evaluation, and due diligence of potential investment opportunities as well as the rigorous monitoring of existing investment managers. Primary duties will include analyzing investment managers’ philosophies, processes, and performance. The position provides the opportunity to gain in-depth exposure to public and private investment strategies and institutional portfolio management.


  • Conduct due diligence on new and existing investment managers across buyout, venture capital, growth equity, private credit, secondaries, as well as other asset classes and investment opportunities.
  • Conduct due diligence on existing and prospective investment managers by (a) evaluating the team and its strategy, (b) analyzing its portfolio holdings and performance, (c) visiting with managers and portfolio companies across multiple industries and geographies, (d) conducting reference calls, and (e) debating investment-related merits and risks with colleagues.
  • Research broad investment and industry trends, and opportunistic investment projects as required.
  • Assist in preparation of investment recommendations for presentation to the Chief Investment Officer.
  • Review managersʹ investment reports and letters and proactively monitor markets for potential portfolio or manager implications.
  • Gather attribution characteristics and perform analytics for assigned asset classes and/or portfolios.
  • Collaborate with operations team on database and reporting projects.
  • Partner with senior team members, including the Chief Investment Officer, Chief of Staff and Director of Investments on ad hoc projects.
  • Evaluate alignment of portfolio with TNC’s organizational mission, including the analysis of ESG and Impact investments.
  • Attend relevant annual meetings and/or industry conferences.
  • Travel as needed.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Finance, Business Administration or related field and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience regarding investment principles and strategies.
  • Experience being a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Experience being detail-orientated and dedicated to high-quality work product.
  • Experience with writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


  • Progress towards CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CAA (Chartered Asset Allocator) charter or willingness to pursue CFA/CAA charter a positive.
  • Up to 3 years’ professional experience, preferably in a banking, institutional investing, or analytical finance role.
  • Affinity for The Nature’s Conservancy’s mission in supporting global land and water conservation efforts.
  • Experience in manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Experience monitoring for and ensuring compliance with organizational policy, applicable law and regulation, and finance/accounting/management best practice.
  • Experience analyzing a regulatory framework and applying it to the situation at hand.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues independently within program area.
  • Experience acting as a resource to others to solve problems.
  • Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience appreciated.

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $98,300-$166,800 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
