The Senior Analyst / Analyst, Private Equity is integral to the success of the Investmentsteam, and to CAAT’s guiding mission and growth strategy.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Private Equity, the Senior Analyst / Analyst will be actively involved in all aspects of the investment process. The role supports the implementation of CAAT’s overall investment strategy by conducting due diligence on new investments, executing new investments, and monitoring CAAT’s existing private equity portfolio.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Undergraduate Degree from an accredited institution
  • 1 to 5 years’ experience in institutional investing, private markets/private equity investing, investment banking, or transaction advisory
  • Possessing or pursuing an MBA, MFin, CFA, CAA, CPA, CBV, CAIA, or any other relevant professional designation, would be an asset
  • Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills and an ability to perform cash flow, valuation and capital structure analysis
  • Knowledge of private equity investing, due diligence processes, portfolio management and capital markets

  • Strong work ethic, honesty, and integrity

Once here you will:

Investment Process

  • Support the screening, evaluation, and execution of prospective investment opportunities under the direction of senior team members. Contribute to progressing due diligence workstreams (e.g., financial, legal, tax, etc.) and assist in managing third parties (e.g., advisors, lawyers, etc.)
  • Work with Associates and senior team members in performing track record analyses on general partners, sensitivity analyses, and investment case analyses on prospective investments
  • Develop investment judgment with the ability to understand the wider transaction context while focusing on key merits and risks
  • Support the preparation of written investment memos for new investment opportunities
  • Assist in maintaining a prioritized pipeline of investment opportunities in tandem with the pacing model for the Private Equity portfolio

Portfolio Management

  • Attend conference calls with general partners / portfolio company board meetings and assist in monitoring ongoing portfolio performance at the fund and asset level
  • Participate in preparing and reviewing Private Equity-related quarterly reports, as well as other ad-hoc reporting materials for the Investment Committee and for senior management.
  • Remain abreast of private equity investment themes and trends. Conduct research and perform special projects as needed

Internal Initiatives

  • Contribute to developing a creative approach to assessing new investment opportunities and company track records
  • Actively contribute to Private Equity and Investment team discussions
  • Contribute to the standardization, documentation, and improvement of CAAT’s private equity investing practices and processes
