We are currently seeking an analyst for our New York-based Small and SMID Cap Growth Equities Team.  AB has been investing in small-cap growth markets since 1973 and currently manages about $12 billion in US small- and SMID-cap growth equities.  Portfolios are managed by an experienced, tenured Team that has generated significant outperformance and strong peer rankings over time.

The analyst we are seeking will support a broad coverage area, so they should be flexible and able to quickly analyze companies and business models across different industries and sectors.  They should also have the ability to think strategically, in a manner that aligns with the Team’s quality growth approach that seeks to identify companies that can deliver sustainable fundamental outperformance.  Analysts will interact regularly with portfolio managers and other analysts as a valued contributor within a collaborative environment.  Initiative, a collaborative mindset, excellent technical capabilities and effective communication skills will be essential to success in the role.

What You’ll Do:

  • Monitor trends across various sectors, including technology, healthcare, consumer/commercial services and industrials.
  • Conduct fundamental research on companies across a range of sectors, with the aim of making actionable investment recommendations in support of the Team’s senior portfolio managers.
  • Provide reliable research that supports those recommendations, including proprietary fundamental analysis, detailed financial projections and a valuation framework.
  • Incorporate quantitative and ESG factors into their fundamental research
  • Articulate clearly to the Team’s portfolio managers, the rationale supporting investment recommendations.
  • Track, analyze and interpret trends across the small cap market, and apply findings to recommendations that conform to Team’s investment approach and strategy.

What We’re Looking For:

The successful candidate should have a demonstrated passion for equity research and possess strong analytical skills (understanding of business models, competitive advantages, industry structure, drivers of growth & margins, etc.).  Additionally, they should be highly motivated and driven to achieve, with a record of outstanding academic and professional success.

Our ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in buy side or sell side equity research.  Progress toward a CFA is preferred.

In accordance with Section 8-107(32) as set forth in the New York City Human Rights Law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:

Base Salary Range: $120,000 to $160,000

Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at AB, which may include, depending on eligibility, commissions, year-end incentive compensation, short- and long-term incentives and Department-specific awards.
