At Mutual of Omaha, you will work closely with a team of 70+ investment professionals in managing the company’s investment portfolio of over $38B.  You will have the opportunity to gain analyst experience, interact with different internal and external investment professionals and contribute to portfolio management decisions.


  • Estimated Compensation: (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications)
    • Investment Analyst:  $72,000-$85,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
    • Sr. Investment Analyst: $94,500- $125,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.

  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
  • Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
  • Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.


  • Conduct fundamental, in-depth analysis of municipal issuers to assess credit quality and make Buy/Sell/Hold investment recommendations for the municipal portfolio.
  • Create and maintain internal credit assessments/memos and develop municipal sector expertise to assist in portfolio management decisions and provide subject area expertise across the investment department.
  • Analyze new issue and secondary opportunities within the municipal market.
  • Continually monitors portfolio credits for noteworthy events that may affect credit quality, internal ratings and/or prices.
  • Builds and maintains internal and external relationships with colleagues, sell-side analysts, rating agencies, issuers, industry experts and other sources to collect additional insights on market, industry, asset class and issuer credit developments.
  • Maintains proper documentation for regulatory and compliance purposes.  Supports and assists others with documentation processes, ensuring files are easily found, understood, and maintained by others.


  • 1-5 years of relevant work experience in research, analysis and/or trading Municipal credit with an undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the municipal markets and ability to identify relative value opportunities.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, pride and ownership of work product, strength of conviction and desire to succeed.
  • Sound understanding of fixed income markets and relative value.
  • Experience with financial statement analysis and financial modeling
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and business management skills; participates in and develops proposals based on analysis and research.

  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.


  • Advanced business degree and/or completion of the CFA program.
  • Ability to travel and attend industry events.
  • Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple projects, ability to make judgments and provide recommendations regarding credit, risk, and valuation and ability to influence others.
