BlackRock Private Debt is the private investment business unit of BlackRock’s Global Fundamental Credit Platform. We are a dedicated investment team focused on providing debt capital solutions through directly originated investments across the capital structure.

We are seeking to hire a Managing Director focused on private securitized debt, based in New York. The individual must be an investor with a proven track record for sourcing, structuring, underwriting, and making sound investment decisions (through cycles).  Critical to this individual’s success will be sourcing capabilities, investment judgment, ability to clearly articulate the investment thesis, to work constructively with other investment partners, willingness to take initiative in developing solutions, leading the investment team, and to help in the development of junior investment professionals. The individual must possess important leadership qualities, strong interpersonal skills and a strong sense of perspective essential to supporting our business growth objectives that is underpinned by a high performing team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take a lead role in developing the strategy for the securitized private debt pillar
  • Source, evaluate, structure, execute and recommend quality private structured investments (ABS, mortgages, esoteric, etc.)
  • Manage investment underwriting process (prequalify, diligence, structuring & close)
  • Lead / develop junior investment professionals
  • Portfolio investment monitoring (risk)
  • Serve as Investment Committee Member
  • Build strong relationships with BlackRock colleagues and partners; partnering with Financial Institutions Group and other client teams on business development efforts

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Significant credit investing and securitized asset experience
  • Restructuring and experience with distressed/under-performing assets
  • Superior investment judgment, and analytical, critical thinking, and negotiating skills
  • Solid interpersonal and communications (oral and written)
  • Motivated, self-starter that seeks problem solving situations
  • Ability to develop and lead high performing teams
  • 15+ years relevant experience with a demonstrated track record
  • BA/BS degree.  JD / MBA / CFA (preferred)

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $285,000 – $350,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
