POSITION SUMMARY
The Investment Operations Associate will report to the Managing Director of Investment Operations and will work closely with the investment team at the Grinnell College Investment Office (“GCIO”). The GCIO is an eight-member team responsible for managing the $2.5 billion dollar Grinnell College endowment. They will monitor and reconcile investment activity ensuring accurate and timely transfer of data to downstream systems. This role will play a key part in the implementation of new systems, liaising with software vendors to evaluate best practices and affect change as necessary. This role will be responsible for cash flow modeling and planning. Additionally, the Investment Operations Associate will be the primary person responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting, with support from the Investment Operations Analyst. Finally, the Investment Operations Associate will perform ad hoc projects as assigned. Candidates should be able to manage multiple competing priorities and work well independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and reconcile all investment activity, ensuring accurate presentation in downstream systems.
  • Create and maintain both internal and external standardized reporting packages on monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc basis.
  • Project cash flow levels based on known/modeled cash flows ensuring proper implementation of broader institutional cash strategy.
  • Act in a back-up capacity for broader operational team responsibilities.
  • Complete project-based work, including new system onboarding, various data analytics and aggregation of peer/benchmark data.
Minimum Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree is required and a variety of disciplines (e.g., Finance, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Natural Sciences) will be considered
  • Three years or more of related work experience
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail is critical
  • Exhibits tenacity when researching potential issues, reconciling inconsistencies, and resolving problems
  • Enthusiastically participates in discussions, values feedback, and maintains integrity in professional relationships and data reporting
  • Willingness to learn new proficiencies to accommodate evolving technologies
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel and data assessment skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude and desire to be part of a collaborative, problem-solving team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
