JOB SUMMARY

The position will be responsible for research, sourcing, and due diligence covering all asset classes (public and private equity, venture capital, real estate, hedge funds, credit, etc.)  Investment Office, a small and collaborative team, is focused on generating strong, risk-adjusted returns in support of UST’s mission.  As a key member of a four-person investment office, the position will collaborate with analyst / associate and operations manager and contribute by serving as a thought partner to the CIO.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Due diligence: Perform qualitative and quantitative diligence on investment managers and strategies.  Provide detailed investment recommendations including analysis of investment strategy, track-record, manager strengths/weaknesses, sustainable manager value-add and risk management, team strength, reference checks, review of audited and unaudited financial statements, and review of investment documents.  Assess co-investment opportunities sourced from managers within the portfolio.
  • Source high quality investment managers: Build and maintain network with placement agents, consultants, peer institutions, investment managers, service providers, and others within investment community.
  • Research investment strategies / sub-strategies: Prepare and present asset class, geography, strategy / sub-strategy research.
  • Participate in strategic investment planning by performing asset class research and portfolio-level analysis in support of asset allocation, portfolio construction and future investment commitments. Play a leading role in evaluating and recommending investments across asset classes.
  • Network: Participate in industry events, represent the University at conferences and other events and stay abreast of emerging trends and issues.
  • Other responsibilities (including ad-hoc projects):
    • Analyze, review, and report on specific asset classes and strategies.
    • Assist the build-out of investment office – reports and processes.  Oversee the preparation of reports and informative materials for the Investment Committee meetings and present findings and strategic recommendations.
    • Travel (domestic and international): to meet with existing and prospective investment managers.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ten years of relevant investment experience to include sourcing, evaluating, and managing alternative investments (hedge funds and private investments)

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA designation

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
