Job Description

Global Investment Strategy (GIS) is a unit of the Chief Investment Office (CIO) organization that is responsible for the management of overall domestic and international insurance investment portfolios of Prudential Financial Inc and affiliates. The GIS team is responsible for relative value assessment, new investment opportunities, cross portfolio strategy, active portfolio risk management, ALM strategy and analytics, portfolio liquidity and collateral as well as environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies for the insurance portfolios.

Description:

This position will report to an Investment Vice President and provide critical, hands-on support in the General Account’s liquidity and collateral framework as well as research, design and implementation of investment strategies. This position will also provide the incumbent the opportunity to develop portfolio management skills, decision-making abilities, and related market and asset class knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and partner with other groups such as Portfolio Managers within CIO and other Liquidity Management stakeholders (e.g. Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Actuarial, Treasurer’s Department, Finance, Audit, PGIM) in assessing liquidity and capital at the Corporate and portfolio levels
  • Perform time-sensitive ad-hoc analysis for potential strategic transactions
  • Creation of presentation materials and presenting topics to senior leaders
  • Develop new strategies and frameworks to support Enterprise-wide Collateral Management project
  • Modeling and scenario analysis for Enterprise stress testing models.
  • Develop new assumptions and methodologies within the stress testing frameworks.
  • Monitoring collateral and liquidity balances/risks across various portfolios and legal entities.
  • Manage and support “special projects” on cross portfolio initiatives such as analyzing new asset classes, understanding capital frameworks and their impact on investment initiatives, optimizing new strategies under enterprise risk limits.
  • Engage in macroeconomic and capital market surveillance which also includes input from PGIM asset management units, investment banks and external asset managers.
  • Liaison role with asset management units which includes discussing investment opportunities, reviewing market trends, escalating and assessing risk concerns, and reviewing ESG strategies.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of related experience focused on investments.
  • Familiarity with derivatives, liquidity, collateral management preferred.
  • BS/BA degree required, prefer a degree in (or demonstrated aptitude) a discipline such as finance, business, economics, accounting or a similar subject area.
  • Preferred candidates would have or would be working on a CFA designation or MBA
  • Advanced skills in Excel and ability to develop complex data models in Tableau, and/or exposure to computer programming.
  • Previous experience in investments, credit analysis or fixed income is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate is motivated, confident, enjoys being challenged and works well individually and in a team-based environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and partnering skills required; as well ability to problem solve and explain solutions and outcomes (both oral and written)

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $110,000 to $130,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
