We are looking to add an Investment Analyst to the team in our Charlotte, NC office. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer and analytical skills and a passion for investments. We are looking for an individual with an experience in data analysis and a desire to develop skills and contribute to a team. A successful candidate will have the ability to effectively communicate with clients and team members, critical attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, an energetic and positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. Organizational skills, resiliency and flexibility, and promptness are necessary in all tasks and responsibilities.

Investment Analyst Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze fundamental data to inform investment strategy.
  • Work with wealth advisors on designing portfolios for prospective clients.
  • Prepare internal and external communications on relevant investment topics, to better help clients and advisors navigate volatile markets.
  • Analyze, create, and execute trades in client portfolios to bring into alignment with investment allocations.
  • Process simple and complex tax trading requests for gain/losses at advisors’ requests.
  • Primary responsibility for the trading functions within the firm as part of the trading team, including trading mutual funds, equities, options, and individual bonds in client accounts to ensure adherence with our recommended model portfolios.
  • Audit client transactions, fees, cash balances, and securities to ensure compliance with firm policies.
  • Monitor market conditions and execute trades in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers and research teams to implement investment decisions.
  • Work closely with the operations team to resolve trade-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Continually assess current procedures and programs for continuous improvement.
  • Utilize trading platforms, order management systems, and other financial tools to execute trades.
  • Maintain accurate records of trades and transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders, including performance reports and compliance documentation.
  • Proactively assess clients’ portfolio allocation to determine if they are within tolerance bands.
  • Run weekly reports for advisors.

Travel:

  • Some travel is required, up to 20%.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field.
  • One to four years’ experience working in research in the financial services industry, preferably in an RIA or broker/dealer.
  • Experience working in a Portfolio Management System, Tamarac or Orion preferred.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a special emphasis in Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Self-starter with problem-solving ability, adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • A genuine desire to serve with excellence.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • MBA
  • Experience with financial analysis software such as Bloomberg or Morningstar.
  • Desire to obtain Series 65 and CFA.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
