Type of Role: Investments

Experience Level: Analyst/Associate

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

Salary: $k - $k

The Penn Office of Investments is responsible for investing the University’s endowment, pensions, and other long-term assets, collectively valued at over $16 billion as of June 30, 2019. Members of the investment team travel the globe to source new investment opportunities and maintain relationships with leading investment firms. With one of the largest endowments of any U.S. university, Penn partners with investment managers of the highest caliber across all geographies and asset classes, including hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, public equities, and real assets. Details below.

Full-time Investment Analysts will work with senior investment professionals to monitor existing investments and evaluate new opportunities. While Investment Analysts will receive exposure to all aspects of endowment management, they will typically focus on one or two asset classes.

The full-time investment analyst role offers recent graduates a unique opportunity to launch a career in investing while supporting Penn. Analysts receive unparalleled exposure to many of the world’s smartest investors, evaluating opportunities across public and private markets. They participate in every stage of the investment process, including meeting with managers, underwriting investment opportunities, analyzing historical performance and portfolio metrics, conducting quantitative analyses, and developing perspectives on industries, strategies, and opportunity sets. Analysts are active participants in rigorous investment discussions and debates, contributing as meaningful thought partners to the Office’s senior investment staff. Skills developed at the Office have led to roles at the nation’s top investment firms, business schools, consulting companies, endowments, and foundations.

The Office is a flat, entrepreneurial environment where junior team members are involved in all important investment decisions and are expected to contribute thoughtfully to intellectual debates. The roles offer significant ownership, early leadership opportunities, and a culture of intellectual curiosity, collaboration, and constructive debate. Fully immersed in the Office, analysts develop the judgment and acumen that distinguish exceptional allocators and investors. No prior investment experience is necessary to be successful. We are looking for motivated, curious individuals with a mix of analytical capabilities, strong interpersonal skills, and exceptional written communication.
