The Investment Office of Oberlin College is responsible for the management of Oberlin’s $1.2 billion endowment. The endowment is broadly and globally diversified among over 80+ external asset managers, including a significant allocation to alternative investment strategies.

Job Summary
The Investment Analyst will support the investment team to actively monitor current and prospective investment portfolio managers. The Investment Analyst will work closely with the entire investment team and contribute to all areas of portfolio management, including administrative and operational activities. This is an entry level full-time, continuing 12-month Administrative and Professional Staff position based in Oberlin, Ohio.
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the investment team to actively monitor current investment portfolio managers
  • Participate in sourcing new managers by performing database screens, reviewing materials from prospective managers, and interfacing with market intermediaries.
  • Assist with investment due diligence by participating in calls and meetings and performing qualitative and quantitative research on managers.
  • Review managersʹ investment reports and letters and proactively monitor markets for potential portfolio or manager implications
  • Prepare materials for meetings with current and prospective managers.
  • Assist in legal and operational aspects of external investments
  • Assist in preparation of investment recommendations for presentation to the Investment Committee.
  • Attend relevant annual meetings and/or industry conferences as needed.
  • Execute a wide variety of performance, risk measurement, and attribution analyses using portfolio management software for monthly, quarterly and annual meetings
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Business, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Excellent analytical skills and the desire to understand and interpret complex financial data
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and Power Point
  • Prior experience in the investment industry is preferred
  • Willingness to develop expertise in coding, automation, and technology systems
  • Self-starter who is resourceful and can work independently when necessary.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, ability to multi-task.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work on a small and collegial team.
