The Role

The Investment Analyst Intern will work as part of Steel’s investment team on all stages of the investment process including both new and existing private equity and public investments across a multitude of industry sectors.  They will contribute to various activities including initial diligence to monitoring and reporting.  They will work on opportunities in all layers of the capital structure.  Given the relative small size of the investment team, the candidate can assume integral roles on deal teams and regularly attend internal meetings and external management meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Operational: Analytical support for the ongoing assessment and running of businesses in our portfolio
  • Sell-side transactional: Support sale process(es) improvement and evaluation
  • Buy-side transactional: Support acquisition process(es) :  improvement and evaluation, reviewing decks, putting together, investment theses
  • Public buy-side support: Organizing, analyzing, researching public companies.

 Requirements

  • Currently pursing a Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong analytical, modeling and valuation skills
  • Excellent problem solving, writing and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Experience in industrial products, defense and aerospace industries considered a plus
  • A “hands-on” attitude for getting work done
  • The ability to monitor news and keep track of trends, opportunities and risks
  • Experience in compiling summary reports and making informed recommendations on investment opportunities
