ACS is looking for an Investment Analyst to join their Treasurer & CFO Division.
Division and Unit Overview

The Treasurer & CFO Division is responsible for treasury and financial operations, administrative and customer services and member insurance. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: management of the Society’s investment program; securing external financing for capital expansion and working capital requirements; risk management and the maintenance of the Society’s business insurance program; foreign exchange management; budgeting and fiscal control for ACS Washington Operations; management and operations of the ACS Washington facilities; centralized support services for all Washington staff; and directing the operations of a customer service unit responsible for consolidating service for Society programs, products and services. Governance groups supported by the division include the Board Standing Committees on Audits, Pensions and Investments, the Society Committee on Budget and Finance, and the Board of Trustees, Group Insurance Plans for ACS Members.


The Treasurer & CFO division oversees the Society’s annual operating budget of over $700 million and the management of over $2 billion of investments. There are approximately 100 full-time staff in the Treasurer & CFO Division, 3 of whom oversee investments.



Job Description

The Investment Analyst is actively involved in all aspects of portfolio management, and investment and industry research. The position will have a generalist focus and all team members are exposed to every asset class within the portfolio. The position will monitor existing investments and evaluate potential new investments along with regular special projects. Separate investment assets are included within the ACS Investment Pool, the ACS Insurance Trust, the ACS Defined Benefit Retirement Plan and other endowments. The position reports to the Principal Investment Manager.

  • Work collaboratively with the team to manage the ACS investment portfolios, retirement plans, and debt financings.
  • Monitor and evaluate existing fund managers, including leading regular due diligence meetings, attending conferences, and performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of portfolio, returns, and holdings.
  • Originate, research, and due diligence new investment managers. Create due diligence reports and maintain a list of prospective investments.
  • Implement and oversee the quantitative and qualitative analyses of investment opportunities, including financial modeling, industry and company analysis, manager benchmarking, and returns analyses. Develop and maintain asset class models and databases.
  • Prepare presentation materials for quarterly Investment Committee meetings.
  • Manage cash flows and investment manager reporting. Verify accuracy of investment returns for all ACS portfolios. Maintain and improve monthly/quarterly performance and risk reports.
  • Maintain compliance checklists for each of the Society’s investment funds and verify ongoing compliance by each fund manager. Conduct and document a detailed review of audited financial statements for each of the Society’s Commingled Fund Investments.
  • Support ongoing monitoring and evaluation of other service providers (e.g., consultants, actuaries, auditors)
  • Perform other ad-hoc projects, market research, and analysis.


  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic record.
  • 3 or more years related experience.
  • Advanced financial analysis, business modelling, and valuation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written / verbal / presentation).
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity.
  • Desire to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and collaborative environment.
  • Experience analyzing companies, funds, and industries from an investment perspective.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to follow-through on responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated progress toward Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation preferred.
  • Willing and able to adopt new technologies and processes.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports, business articles, professional journals, etc.


Position Summary

This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. office. ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, three days per week. ACS employees are in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday with the third in-office day scheduled in consultation with the manager. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other two days of the week from a location of their choice. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
