The State Board of Administration (SBA) is primarily an asset management organization responsible for investing state and local government assets. Established by the state’s constitution, its mission is to provide superior investment and trust services while adhering to the highest ethical, fiduciary, and professional standards.

Responsibilities

The SBA is currently seeking an intern in our Operational Due Diligence (ODD) unit of the Risk Management & Compliance (RMC) department. The intern position will be an integral member of a team and will perform support and some technical duties to add value to Operational Due Diligence (ODD) unit and to the WorkSmart Portal Program.

The Operational Due Diligence  intern will focus on assisting ODD staff in the review, monitoring, and management of operational due diligence activities concerning SBA’s external managers across all asset classes, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Assisting  in reviewing  the annual certifications and documentation submitted by SBA’s external investment managers
  • Assisting  in registering new external investment managers to use the Florida Asset Manager Evaluation system and developing reporting tools within the system
  • Documenting processes, research best practices and recommend tools related to external investment manager oversight
  • Learning operational due diligence processes to assist staff in creating ad hoc reports; and
  • Participating in special projects, as appropriate and directed by the Director of Operational Due Diligence

 

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • A senior or graduate level student status
  • Pursuing a degree a in accounting, finance, business, economics or information systems
  • An overall GPA of at least 3.0.

Preferences

  • Experience using Microsoft Access, SQL and/or Tableau

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office ( Power Point, Access, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to exercise initiative and work independently with limited direction and oversight
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to research and summarize key points effectively
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills including attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using SharePoint
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines
  • Ability to research and summarize key points effectively
  • Knowledge of business processes
  • Analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, as  Intern may communicate with management and staff across the organization and with external investment managers
  • Desire to learn
  •  Intern will be frequently asked to work on projects with little oversight and direction

Hiring Rate: $13/ hour

Intern position are part time, 20 hours per week
