We are looking for an Institutional Portfolio Manager to join our team with the flexibility to support a variety of domestic, international, and global equity investment strategies. The Investment Specialist is responsible for representing their investment team externally. The Investment Specialist will meet with clients, prospects, and intermediaries to explain the investment philosophy, process, and performance of specific investment products.  The Investment Specialist will serve as an integrated member of the investment team, focusing on partnership with key distribution channels to support business growth and the retention of assets.


This position will be located in one of our European offices and we will provide assistance with visa transfer based on the new hires eligibility to work in the UK/ EU.


What are the responsibilities?


  • Support the investment team in growing and retaining assets by acting as a “proxy” for portfolio managers and serving as the main investment contact for clients and/or intermediaries.
  • Develop and execute business and territory management plans focused on retaining existing clients and growing new business. Track interactions in CRM system.
  • Effectively communicate the investment philosophy, process, and performance of specific equity products for both mutual funds and separate accounts to Retail and Institutional channels.
  • Provide PM perspective to internal business partners, including Sales, Marketing and others as needed.
  • Stay abreast of identified market trends and the competitive landscape, along with the relative positioning of investment team and strategies.
  • Develop content for complex investment related questions for RFPs or in response to client queries.
  • Contribute to investment commentaries, thought leadership pieces or other investment related content and messaging.
  • Frequent travel overseas to meet with clients is an essential part of this role.


What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?


  • Bachelor’s degree required, CFA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of financial services experience; previous experience as a product/portfolio specialist desired
  • For US -FINRA licensed (Series 7 & 63)
  • Knowledge of equity markets, modern portfolio theory, and performance attribution
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible, resourceful, collaborative team player and proactive
  • Extensive travel required (likely 40-60% of time)
  • Ability to relocate to Europe and work in one of our European offices.


Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. The salary, benefits and variable rewards will reflect the seniority of the position and a competitive market rate. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $175,000 to $225,000 in addition to a competitive bonus.
