JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Head of Private Capital will lead and develop private capital program for William Blair Private Wealth Management (PWM) that encompasses the origination, due diligence, and distribution of private market investments, specifically direct private equity opportunities. Assist with new business activity focused on helping advisors win new clients with particular emphasis on ultra-high net worth client prospects where the Merchant Banking program is meaningful contribution to new business opportunities. Drive the achievement of business goals and strategies and ensure alignment with overall program objectives. Monitor relevant program growth, performance of facilitated investments, and client satisfaction. As appropriate, recruit and retain a high performing team to support business efforts and execute strategy. Provide the infrastructure, processes, systems, and tools to promote team success and positive client experiences. Leverage depth of knowledge and experience to collaboratively create differentiated private capital solutions anchored in quality with a focus on achieving investment outcomes. Operate with an acute focus on compliance and governance.

  • Establish and lead dedicated private capital investment program.
  • Source and research investments to facilitate for program inclusion, leveraging individual network and network of WB relationships.
  • Lead Investment Committee established for oversight of program.
  • Collaborate with advisors in pitching and winning new business with particular emphasis on ultra-high net worth client channel.
  • Develop and execute business strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Monitor asset growth, performance, and client service/satisfaction metrics to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Communicate business plans, performance, and progress to staff.
  • Monitor and communicate investment updates, progress, and performance.
  • Develop a high performing team and determine staffing needs and administer human resources policies, including hiring, compensation, performance reviews and training.
  • Develop relationships and engage with professional advisors and stakeholders to understand their clients’ needs.
  • Manage the production and delivery of educational materials and client service model.
  • Develop and implement tools and processes that advance business efforts.
  • Work collaboratively in team setting.
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. This is a critical aspect of role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Comprehensive and extensive knowledge of private equity and investment banking landscape.
  • Established expertise in sourcing and capital allocation strategy as well as investment banking processes and deal structures
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and success managing a team
  • Excellent sales, presentation and communication skills with a commitment to client satisfaction.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and high level of self-motivation.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
  • Proficient in relevant investment analysis and CRM systems.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required. Advanced Degree and/or Industry Designation (MBA, CFA, CAA, CAIA, etc.) preferred
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in investment banking and/or private markets investing required
  • Series [65, 7 and 63] which may be completed upon committing to role
