Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Corporate Pension Investment and Investment Operations Director to oversee the operational aspects of our investment operations team and contribute to the investment management of our corporate pension and VEBA medical benefits trusts. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of pension investment principles, a strong background in investment operations, knowledge of pension fund administration strong analytical skills, and excellent leadership abilities.  The candidate will be expected to have experience across investments in both public and private markets.

Base Salary Range:  $170,000 – $200,000

This base salary range is a good-faith estimate. Based on the candidate’s skills/experience, the final offer may be lower/higher.


  • Develop and execute investment strategies for the corporate pension fund, aligning with the company’s long-term financial goals and risk tolerance.
  • Develop and implement investment operations strategies and processes to support the efficient and effective management of the corporate pension fund.
  • Oversee the daily investment operations activities, including reconciliation, cash management, and performance reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including ERISA, SEC, and IRS regulations, and stay updated on industry best practices
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, economic indicators, and investment opportunities to optimize portfolio performance.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investment managers, including evaluating their track record, investment philosophy, and risk management capabilities.
  • Manage relationships with external investment managers, consultants, actuaries, auditors, and external legal counsel.
  • Work with the senior team to oversee the asset allocation process and make recommendations for appropriate investment vehicles across public (equities, fixed income) and private markets (credit, equity, real estate, and real assets)
  • Evaluate and implement risk management strategies to safeguard the pension fund’s assets and minimize exposure to market volatility.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, such as finance, legal, HR, compliance, and risk management teams.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging investment trends that may impact the DB and VEBA trusts.
  • Monitor and analyze investment data, performance metrics, and operational risks to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
  • Prepare and present investment reports, performance updates, and recommendations to senior management, investment committees, and board members.
  • Lead and mentor an investment operations professional, providing guidance, training, performance evaluations and professional development.


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Finance, etc.…) and/or professional certification (CFA or similar) is preferred.
  • Extensive investment and investment operations experience, preferably with 12+ years in both disciplines.  Strong knowledge of investment operations processes, cash management, performance reporting, and reconciliation, pension investment principles, asset allocation strategies, risk management techniques, and investment vehicles.
  • Proven track record of successful investment performance and the ability to generate consistent returns within defined risk parameters.
  • Experience with pension de-risking strategies including pension risk transfers.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory compliance requirements for pension funds and VEBAs, including ERISA, SEC, and IRS regulations.
  • Proficiency in investment operations systems and technologies, including portfolio management systems, trading platforms, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing investment operations teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex investment concepts to non-financial stakeholders and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in investment analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high professionalism and attention to detail.
