Job Description:

The Director of Investment Architecture (IA) will play a meaningful role in connecting and integrating the investment processes supporting Fidelity Asset Management Solutions portfolios with the technology infrastructure required to implement investment strategies and decisions at scale. Working closely with FAMS investment and technology partners, the position will participate in/lead projects of various size and complexity, including product/platform development and enhancement. The business value that the Director of IA will be asked to help unlock centers on expanding trading automation, increasing customization, and using FAMS data to create dynamic implementation solutions. Additionally, the role will act as a liaison to foster strong collaboration between the FAMS Quantitative Research team and the FAMS Technology team.

The Expertise You Bring

  • 8+ years in a data intensive, hands on environment, preferably within investment management or technology industries
  • Bachelor’s degree along with CFA (in progress or completed) preferred
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, conceptual thinking, project management and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and simultaneously managing several projects.
  • Ability to successfully navigate across the organization, build strong working relationships with key business partners, and develop a strong professional network
  • Solid ability to synthesize complex ideas into easy-to-understand materials and balance ideal long run vision with the short term practical implementation
  • Proven understanding of data management concepts, data governance principles and practices.
  • Self-starter who can work independently in a challenging situation
  • Strong SQL Skills or capacity to learn quickly; familiarity with other analytic technologies a plus (e.g., R, Python, Tableau, etc.)
  • Customer-focused approach to engagement with business partners

The Value You Deliver

  • Build a deep understanding of the FAMS Quant Research process to become an advocate for the team in technology and operations focused meetings.
  • Be responsible for the creation of requirements for Quant Research led technology projects and partner with technology to create milestones for implementation.
  • Define and document key investment processes by partnering with FAMS Investment Services, investment professionals, and technology to help drive development requirements.
  • Become well versed on FAMS generated data to create better alignment between data management and investment processes.
  • Partner with FAMS investment professionals, technology and the Asset Management Data Office (AMDO) to define a governance structure for FAMS investment data used in the daily management of the portfolios.
  • Define and document usage of daily data and build processes in coordination with the AMDO to ensure it is high quality and ready for portfolio management.
  • Build a comprehensive set of guidelines to streamline asset class assignment across trading, portfolio construction, and risk analysis.
