Macdonald & Co. is exclusively retained by a private real estate investment and financial services company, who’re looking to appoint a new Chief Investment Officer to act as the owner’s representative, leading the entire portfolio of assets including multifamily, single family, RV resorts, and mobile home communities. With more than $4 billion of assets under management, the company has been on the Inc. 5000 list of “Fastest Growing Private Companies in America” for 10 consecutive years.

The firm has an expansive array of business divisions and companies including real estate investment funds, commercial real estate lending, construction management, development, sales, leasing, title services, and loan servicing. They’ve recently undergone a corporate restructure and are repositioning their C-Suite team. We’re seeking passionate real estate professionals with direct Multi-Family experience, who’re looking for their next career chapter and will be excited to contribute to the continued growth of an expanding business.


  • Lead team to evaluate and underwrite investment opportunities, negotiate acquisition agreements, JV agreements, and term sheets, and underwrite all camp & communities and deals
  • Own deals from initial underwriting to closing and coordinate and oversee all departments
  • Refine Investment Processes and spearhead deliberate, intentional strategies for the platform, including acquisitions, asset management, debt procurement, innovation, and leadership
  • Make Investment Recommendations and identify potential strategic multi-family real estate investment trends and opportunities
  • Act as Owner’s Representative and assess performance of the assets relative to original underwriting strategies or business plans and industry benchmarks
  • Lead Annual Budgeting and Approval Process for all assets assigned
  • Lead portfolio operations data analysis, leveraging PM software, the data warehouse, and our in-house analyst to provide actionable data on our portfolio and building action plans based on that data
  • Manage BOV and valuation process, protect the company from internal and external risks and threats, and define portfolio management processes
  • Using quantitative and analytical skills to assess the asset’s overall health status, capital needs, risks mitigation, budget & proforma achievement progress on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Proactively maintain and review ongoing performance reports related to the financial and operational performance of the asset or portfolio in conjunction with budgeted expectations, operational metrics & underwriting returns
  • Work with property manager to develop a written, defined plan for prompt turnaround of every underperforming assets
  • Identify potential expense savings through review of all expenditures, efficiency improvements, and marketing programs that drive customer loyalty with longer term leases
  • Work with Construction Management, Property Management, finance, and Accounting teams to ensure effective management of lender / construction draws, reserves and lender holdbacks on both managed assets and joint venture partnerships with outside management
  • Capital Expenditures: Work closely with internal and external property management teams to review, approve, build and manage capital expenditures budgets for assets
  • Keep Salesforce, DEALPATH, and any other core systems up to date at all times
  • Ensure cost segregation and tax appeals are performed at all assets with most favorable outcomes achieved per the asset strategy.


  • 5+ Years experience in acquisitions/investing in multi-family with 1 billion + transactional experience.
  • 10+ Years of asset & portfolio management experience, with a focus on multifamily experience with large portfolios.
  • Credit/Lending experience preferred.
  • Acquisitions experience preferred.
  • JV experience preferred.
