Job Title: Portfolio Management – BAAM Valuation & Analytics, AVP

Job Description: 

The Portfolio Management – Valuations & Analytics team is looking for an AVP for the Hedge Fund Solutions (BAAM) group. The core focus of the group is to prepare, evaluate, analyze, and summarize portfolio investment valuation results for BAAM with a focus on the Blackstone General Partnership Stakes (“BX GP Stakes”) and Seeding.

  • Assist in day-to-day management of the team including, but not limited to, deliverable tracking, model development, valuation model reviews, presentation to leaders, and completion of ad-hoc deliverables
  • Lead the completion of valuation models in line with Blackstone’s valuation policy as well as requisite external guidance
  • Host valuation committee meetings and other meetings with senior stakeholders and present to senior leaders in Finance and BAAM
  • Become a subject matter expert in BX GP Stakes deals, private equity fund models, private equity metrics, and valuations
  • Drive the onboarding process for technology and offshore team members and ensure proper data collection procedures are in place
  • Train team members in private equity fund models and valuations
  • Manage the annual audit as well as interim reviews with third party valuation firms
  • Drive enhancements and improvements to the group’s valuations and reporting processes, procedures, offshore resources, and use of technology
  • Manage the creation and development of presentation materials to effectively communicate results within BAAM and wider Blackstone
  • Assist in the presentation of valuation results to various internal committees, external auditors, and limited partners
  • Work closely with BAAM Management Reporting to provide inputs as well as other portfolio investment information to aid in the completion of business forecasts and other planning deliverables
  • Maintain relationships with core constituencies including, Asset Management, deal professionals, Investor Relations, Operations, Accounting, and Finance teams
  • This position will mentor team members and could have a trajectory toward greater managerial responsibilities based on performance

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar discipline (CFA and/or CPA a plus)
  • 6+ years of private valuation experience in transaction services, a private equity fund, hedge fund or third party valuation services provider
  • 1+ years of management experience
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires execution of recurring deliverables as well as projects and initiatives in support of a growing business
  • Thorough understanding of ASC 820 and corresponding valuation guidance. In depth understanding of the discount cash flow model and market multiples
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high EQ, and the ability to confidently and competently handle interactions with deal professionals, Asset Management, and portfolio company representatives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Confidence presenting to large groups of  individuals
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is required
  • Proficiency in iLevel a plus

Expected annual base salary range:

 

$100,000 – $130,000

 

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual’s experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
