As the Product Manager – Alternatives you will support the development, delivery and ongoing governance of the alternative investments offering (private equity, hedge funds, etc.) in the U.S. to both U.S. domestic investors and Non U.S. offshore investors. The role will be expected to demonstrate deep knowledge of the breadth of the alternatives offering across Wealth client segments from mass affluent (Premier) through high net worth and ultra high net worth. He/she will need to build and leverage networks and relationships with key US partners such as Legal and Regulatory Compliance, the global Wealth product team and HSBC Alternative Investments (HAIL) as well as affiliated and third party entities such as platform vendors, fund managers, fund administrators, etc., to develop and deliver a highly competitive product offering. The objective is an alternatives product platform that is fit for purpose with an end to end process that represents a good client and front office sales experience. Working closely with the Alternatives product specialist, the individual holding the role will seek to drive the strategic expansion of the alternatives offering and ongoing timely fund launches across the full range of alternatives, including hedge funds, private equity, etc.  The individual will be expected to understand the different fund structures and documentation requirements for both U.S. domestic investors and Non U.S. offshore investors, as well as to develop relevant internal training and product materials as well as affiliate and third party agreements.

Here’s what you can expect:
You will work with the Alternatives Product Specialist and other involved Wealth areas to support the Wealth Relationship Managers and Investment Counselors across the existing alternatives product offering and spearhead new fund launches and drive alternatives product governance and initiatives. As such, success will be determined by the ability to manage the existing alternatives platform effectively as well as to meet strategic business goals by expanding the alternatives product platform, both broker dealer and RIA, maintaining end to end alternatives product processes that are competitively positioned, fit for purpose and a good client and front office experience, timely launching new alternative funds across the various client segments, maintaining updated product and fund documentation as well as compliance with all applicable regulatory and policy requirements.


For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $123,600 and $185,400.

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

  • 3-4+ years experience with alternatives product management, including hedge funds and/or private equity funds
  • Self- starter and proactive
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, oral and presentation skills in dealing with internal clients and external providers as well as governance forums
  • Ability to develop trusted and fruitful relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to manage product related projects and fund launches timely to meet business growth and strategic expansion goals
  • Relevant experience in structuring and delivering alternatives product solutions, including hedge funds and/or private equity funds
  • Experience interacting with internal stakeholders, e.g., Operations, Legal and Risk and with external stakeholders such as platform vendors, fund administrators, etc.
