The Alternative Platform Lead Manager will be responsible for specific portfolio management services provided to Ultra High Net Worth and Institutional client accounts within Clarfeld Citizens Private Wealth. This position will provide leadership to a team of research professionals and advisors overseeing investment strategies, objectives, risk/return, and liquidity needs for our clients.  The role will interface with internal and external constituents to help facilitate the management, support, and expansion of the investment product offerings within CCPW and the broader Wealth organization.

The role will be tasked with creating a comprehensive and sustainable alternative investment platform complementary to the existing investment product offerings.  This role will involve oversight of detailed research and analysis of investment funds, market data, trends, and other factors related to Alternative Investments.  The lead manager will be responsible for the preparation of standardized research reports and providing recommendations on Alternative Investments. This will be fundamental in the decision-making process during the portfolio asset allocation modeling, portfolio construction, and ongoing maintenance of client investment portfolios.  Certain approved alternative investment research will be disseminated and used by the client-facing teams to respond effectively to questions regarding market exposures within Alternative Investments.

  • Responsible for the oversight and management of Alternative Investment Platform for CCPW (RIA, Trust, and Institutional clients)
  • Responsible for interfacing with Private Wealth Advisors, Investment Managers, and Clients to ensure seamless client onboarding and ongoing support of client inquiries.
  • Create monitoring capability of Alternative Investments to assist in the adherence to the client’s investment policy statement, ensuring compliance with client’s stated mandate and objectives.
  • Review and resolve exception reporting related to alternative investment in the asset allocation, non-approved assets, and performance exceptions.
  • Collaborating with advisors and specialized team members to resolve daily client inquiries.
  • Assist in the creation and updating of resources such as a research library of slides for advisors needed in the sales process, development of pitch books, performance books, and other client and prospect needs.
  • Make recommendations that will help mitigate certain risks associated with alternative investment strategies.
  • Manage certain Research and Operational staff associated with the Alternative Investment Platform
  • Build out the proper reporting infrastructure for clients to get timely and accurate reporting on alternative investments.
  • Maintain an Alternative Investment inventory of all external Alternative Fund Managers whether we have research coverage or not for Risk Management purposes.
  • Represent the Alternative Investment Platform for any audit requirements.
  • Attend certain approved industry conferences representing the Clarfeld/Citizens Alternative Investment Platform.
  • Develop a formal review and assessment of alternative investment holdings for new and prospective clients.

Qualifications -Alternative Investment Platform Lead

  • Experience building an Alternative Investment Platform working with HNW/UHNW and institutions.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent client service and communication abilities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • CFA or MBA preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 10+ years minimum experience in Alternative Investments, with preferred work experience at a Bank Wealth Platform
  • Management experience overseeing human capital, investment processes, client service, risk management, and building an investment platform.
  • Experience in Asset Allocation modeling for investors consistent with Investment Consulting approach.
  • Experience working through multiple economic cycles.
  • Experience leading a team of investment professionals and strong understanding of regulatory requirements for Private Funds.
